Curator Amani Olu (Humble Arts Foundation) "examines how artists employ conceptual black + white photography to strengthen their ideas and how such usage comments on the dominance of large-scale color photography as seen in the contemporary art world over the last 25 years".

Lightside and LTI provided various printing, mounting and framing services for Talia Chetrit's photographic Gradient Tool series and Michael Buhler-Rose's mixed media Edition series.

Meredith Danluck

Drinkability

Renwick Gallery, New York, NY: May 29 / July 25, 2009

Danluck made the photographs in Drinkability over a two year period and refers to the series as "American portrature of the contemporary west". Lightside and LTI scanned over 20 original negatives and imaged them as digital c-prints and archival pigment prints in various sizes ranging from 11 x 14 to 40 x 60.

2009 WIP/Lightside Individual Project Grant

In 2009 Lightside teamed up with LTI, Women in Photography and Humble Arts Foundation to create the first annual WIP / Lightside / LTI Individual Project Grant. This vendor sponsored grant is open to women artists and photographers worldwide and is intended to support new or ongoing works.

Erika Larson was awarded the $3000.00 grant for her project: Sami, The People.

Erica Allen was awarded the $500.00 runner-up prize for her series: Untitled Gentleman.

Triptych

James Fuentes, LLC. New York, NY: May 5 / June 28, 2009

Triptych represents over two years of research and production. The base of this piece is is a backlit portrait of the artist's son in profile. The original negative was scanned and the file divided and enlarged into (3) separate 38" x 78" digital c-prints and mounted on 3mm dibond panels. Bremer then interpreted Rembrandt's, The Angel Appearing to the Shepherds, in ink and acrylic paint directly onto the surface of the prints.

Also included here are images of Bremer working in his studio during the production of various pieces, including Triptych.

Jason Kraus

Jason Martin wants to be a punk rocker

Renwick Gallery, New York, NY: April 17 / May 16, 2009

This exhibition is the first collaborative effort between the Los Angeles based artists, Jason Kraus and Martin Kersels. It combines kinetic sculpture, video, drawing and photography. Kraus and Renwick contacted Lightside / LTI directly for assistance in imaging the original digital capture files from a studio shoot which depicts the aftermath of a destructive punk rock performance. Lightside /LTI then printed and mounted over 10 various sized digital c prints, presented paired in diptychs with the artist's drawings.

Boogie

Galerie Olivier Robert, Paris, FR. March 14 / April 30, 2008

Lightside provided (5) 40 x 60 archival pigment prints on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin 310 and a large selection of conventional 20 x 24 archival silver gelatin prints on Ilford Warmtone Semi-Matt paper for Boogie's March / April 2008 exhibition at Galerie Olivier Robert in Paris, France. The gallery also released a limited edition portfolio consisting of (10) conventional 11 x 14 silver gelatin prints, an interview by Jerome Sans, and a handmade embossed leather case.

Sonnabend Gallery, New York, NY: March 2008

Lightside provided the full range of services for Larry Beck's new series of large format Water Lilly images shot on 8 x 10 film. Proprietary special c-41 processing, hi-resolution drum scanning, and 60 x 80 archival pigment print output mounted on 3mm dbond. The framing presentation is 7/8 x 2 3/4 spline joined maple with matt white lacquer finish and OP-3 UV protective acrylic glazing.

Cao Fei

Lombard Freid Projects, New York, NY February 29 / April, 5, 2008

Lightside mounted and framed (7) 48 x 63 digital c-prints for Cao Fei's RMB City exhibition at Lombard Freid Projects. The pieces were top mounted to 3mm white dibond and presented in spline joined maple frames with matt white lacquer finish, 3/16" OP-3 acrylic glazing, archival coroplast backing, and countersunk strainers.

Rebecca Horne

Roebling Hall, New York, NY January 17 / February 23, 2008

Lightside provided the mounting and framing for Rebecca Horne's (15) 20 x 24 and (3) 30 x 40 photographs for her January 2008 The Corner of Your Eye  exhibition at Roebling Hall. The pieces were mounted on 3mm and 6mm sintra and presented in spline joined maple frames with white lacquer finish, white book rag spacers, OP-3 UV protection glazing, archival coroplast backing, and countersunk strainers.

2007

Ori Gersht

CRG Gallery consulted Lightside for presentation solutions for Ori Gersht's current series of large format c-prints. Gersht specified a back bevel profile frame and no glazing for the 70 x 70 and 70 x 94 prints. Lightside provided 1/4" acrylic top mounting with a matt UV protective over-lamination film.  For the framing, maple stock was hand milled and given a jet black lacquer finish.

Boogie

Higher Pictures, New York City September 19 / October 20, 2007

For his untitled solo exhibition at Higher Pictures Gallery in New York City, the New York based Serbian photographer Boogie (aka Vladimir Milivojevich) presented over 20 images from his various portfolios. The wide ranging mix included photographs from Barcelona, Caracas, Brooklyn, Sao Paulo, Belgrade, and beyond ... Lightside provided 11 x 14, 16 x 20, and 20 x 24 hand printed archival black + white fiber based silver gelatin prints from original 35mm negatives.

Lightside has also worked with Boogie on exhibitions for galleries in France and Japan. His work can be seen in the powerHouse Books publication "It's All Good" and coming in Spring 2008 in the Upper Playground publication "Sao Paulo".

Shahrzad Kamel

The Southeast Museum of Photography: November 3 / January 18, 2008

Shahrzad Kamel photographed extensively throughout Iran and Afghanistan for the exhibition Journeys at The Southeast Museum of Photography. Lightside provided (17) 16 x 20 archival black + white fiber based silver gelatin prints from her original 35 mm and 120 negatives.

Roebling Hall, NY, NY, September / October, 2007

Lightside consulted with Morlinghaus and his gallery, Roebling Hall, regarding the finishing of his (12) 50 x 60 conventional c-prints (printed from hand masked 8 x 10 original negatives). The individual pieces are presented on 6mm sintra in splined maple frames with a 3/4" face x 2 1/4" deep profile, white wash finish, and acrylic glazing

Quisqueya Henriquez

The Bronx Museum of the Arts: September 16 / January 27, 2008

As part of her solo survey "The World Outside, 1991 - 2007" at The Bronx Museum of the Arts, multi-disciplinary artist Quisqueya Henriquez exhibited images from the series "Espacio Publico (Public Space)". Lightside worked with various digital capture files to produce six 22 x 28 Light Jet digital c-prints. The individual pieces are finished with UV protection matt surface over-lamination and mounted on .080 braced aluminum for final presentation.

Chad Hunt

New York based photographer, Chad Hunt, has exhibited images from his 2006 work in Afghanistan at The Woodstock Center for Photography: Photography Now '07, The Kingston Museum of Contemporary Arts: The Face of War, The Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan, and The London Portrait Gallery: 2007 Photographic Portrait Prize Exhibition. Lightside has produced digital c-prints from 20" x 30" to 40" x 50" and provided the mounting and framing for various pieces.

January / March 2007

For the exhibition "New and Used" Joseph presented 23 uniquely sized digital c-prints ranging from 24 x 30 to 48 x 60. Lightside provided 1/8" clear acrylic top mounting and custom built wood shipping crates.

Lombard-Freid Projects, New York NY, October / November 2006

Beginning with original black + white negatives, Lightside provided 16 bit hi-resolution drum scans, file preparation, proofing, and output for 8 neutral balanced 48 x 60 light jet chromogenic prints. The prints were finished with semi-gloss film lamination, top mounted to 1” black gator board substrate with Formica sealed edges, and fitted with painted wood bracing.

Lightside printed (46) 11 x 14 to 20 x 24 archival black + white fiber based silver gelatin prints from various original negative formats including 35mm, 120mm, and Polaroid 665 and Type 55 negative films.

15 x 15 archival platinum / palladium contact prints on acid-free paper. Original black and white 120 format negative film was drum scanned, balanced, and printed as an archival pigment reversal transparency output.

20 x 24 digital c-print from 120mm color film. Original transparency was drum scanned, color corrected, and printed on Durst Lambda.

30 x 40 and 40 x 40 archival pigment prints.

Lightside produced and installed multi-panel photo-realistic adhesive backed vinyl wall covering on 3mm sintra material over an 11 x 8 and 8 x 8 foot corner of the gallery complete with an 8 x 12 foot acrylic covered photo-realistic stage floor. Other pieces included digital 24 x 30 to 40 x 50 chromogenic prints with cold press gator board top mounting and 30 x 40 face mount braced acrylic pieces backed with sintra material.
